History of Bridge for Peace RaphaEl Medical Missions
Bridge for Peace RaphaEl Medical Missions was founded in 2007 by anesthesiologist Scott Silverberg, M.D.. Dr. Silverberg partnered with Rev. Lubuto Nsofu from Kitwe, Zambia to provide medical care to the indigent population.
The ministry name is a combination of two Hebrew words - Rapha (Healer) and Elohim (God).
Our mission statement is "Bringing Healing to a Hurting World." We bring God's healing ministry to our patients and everyone else with whom we interact. We are God's instruments to assist in the healing process. Doctors treat but God heals!
In the early years of the ministry, Dr. Silverberg was challenged by Matthew 4:23. This scripture states that Jesus went about teaching, preaching, and healing all kinds of sicknesses and diseases. His team specialized in medicine, dealing with disease and sickness, but what about teaching and preaching? Joining with B4P, the ministry evolved providing teaching and preaching as well . The Ugandan leader of Bridge for Peace Africa, Mapose Selevest, traveled to Zambia with B4PRaphaEl Medical Mission team. He leads B4PR missionaries who now teach Foundations for Healing in the local church empowering people to minister with God's healing power. B4PRaphaEl team also ministers through counseling and prayer to the hospital patients and witnesses miracle after miracle.
Our vision is to bring health and healing to those in need through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit combined with Godly wisdom in the field of medicine. Our teams include prayer ministers who counsel (teach), preach the gospel, and lay hands on the patients thereby releasing the supernatural healing power of God. (Mark 16:18) We want to treat the whole person, spirit, soul, and body, by providing not only physical care but also emotional and spiritual support. The Bible tells us that Jesus had come to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8) and to gives us life to the fullest (John 10:10). Sickness and disease is a result of this fallen world and therefore a work of the devil. We want to be doing all we can, as led by the Holy Spirit, to be doing the work of Jesus Christ.
